Sticky Thing writes the new ABCs of COVID recovery

Sticky Thing Music recently teamed up with creative agency Duncan Channon to compose original music for You Can Beat It — a California Department of Public Health campaign aimed at encouraging COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters. Designed to cut through fatigue and confusion, the campaign uses upbeat animation and a memorable health jingle to remind Californians that protecting yourself is still possible — and still important.

The 30-second spot is bright, rhythmic, and intentionally sticky. Sticky Thing wrote and produced the music from scratch, crafting a sound that balances optimism with urgency — approachable enough for families, but sharp enough to carry a public health message.

“We wanted to write something that was informative but didn’t feel clinical — a tune that felt like a pep talk you could hum,” said Mike Blankenship, founder of Sticky Thing Music. “It’s about health, but it’s also about hope.”

This marks another milestone in Duncan Channon’s long-standing work in public health and behavior-change marketing — with Sticky Thing adding a fresh sonic layer to the agency’s message. The music was recorded with professional vocalists and produced with the same attention to detail the studio brings to film scores and brand campaigns alike.
