Sticky Thing scores First 5 Alameda County’s Measure C story

Sticky Thing Music created the original score for a new video highlighting First 5 Alameda County’s Measure C and the impact of public investment in children, families and early childhood services across Alameda County.

Working alongside the creative team behind the film, Sticky Thing founder Mike Blankenship composed music designed to give the story momentum and emotional weight while leaving room for the voices of the people at its center. The score helps connect individual stories to a bigger idea: what becomes possible when a community invests in its youngest residents and the people who care for them.

Measure C provides dedicated funding to expand access to child care and early education while supporting the early care and education workforce in Alameda County. For the campaign video, the challenge was turning that broad civic impact into something that felt immediate, personal and human.

“There’s a lot of information behind an initiative like Measure C, but ultimately it’s about people,” said Blankenship. “We wanted the music to help you feel the scale of what’s happening without getting in the way of the individual stories. The score builds as those stories come together and you start to understand what this investment can mean for an entire community.”

The project continues Sticky Thing’s growing body of original music for public agencies, nonprofits and purpose-driven campaigns — using custom composition to help complex messages connect on an emotional level.
